Coming up in two weeks, at our February 1 meeting at 7pm Nathan 
Harrington, of the Ward 8 Woods Conservancy, will talk about forest 
conservancy and stewardship in the District.

Upcoming BSW talks:

-Doug Ripley will present on "Exploring the South Atlantic and Southern
Oceans: Views of the Flora, Fauna, and Geology of the Falkland Islands,
South Georgia Island, and the Antarctic Peninsula" at the March 1 meeting.

-Carolina Siniscalchi will talk about her research on Asteraceae as well 
as a new project on nitrogen fixation.

-Vinita Gowda will talk about gingers in the Northeast of India.

-One of Vinita's students will give a talk on pollination biology of the
Western Ghats.

-Amalia Díaz Peña will give a talk about the Humbolt Institute and 
herbarium
in Bogotá

-Juan Diego Palacio Mejía will give a talk about novel agricultural uses 
for
underutilized grass species as well as details of his botanical trips
through Mexico.
