[BSW] Tuesday, January 5 - Speaker: Tony Avent - Crevice Gardening

We have a special treat next month.  Tony Avent will be speaking on the 
topic "High and Dry - The Wonderful, Wild, World of Crevice Gardening”. 
This meeting will take place on Zoom starting at 7pm.

Tony Avent is a renowned horticulturist, plant-explorer, and leader in the 
propagation and hybridization of spring ephemerals and Hostas. He is also 
proprietor of the Plant Delights Nursery and Juniper Level Botanical 
Garden, both in North Carolina. Mr. Avent’s extensive horticultural 
experience is enhanced with his multiple national and international trips 
with other renowned plantsmen, where he has obtained important plant 
material to develop unique horticultural varieties and contributed to our 
knowledge of numerous species. His gardens and nurseryhave propagated more 
than 10,000 different plants over the years. Besides his garden work, he 
has authored several books, book chapters, and articles in horticulture 
that have been featured in "Heroes of Horticulture” by Barbara Robinson, 
and media including "Almanac Gardener" with Mike Gray, "Martha Stewart 
Living", "In the Garden” with Bryce Lane, and The Secret Garden Series. In 
addition, he was a contributing editor to “Horticulture Magazine" from 
2002 to 2008, and has been a contributing editor to “Fine Gardening 
Magazine” since 2017. The outstanding horticultural work done for decades 
by Mr. Avent has been recognized by numerous institutions and 
organizations, such as two awards from the North American Rock Garden 
Society, three awards from the Men’s Garden Club of America, the Eunice 
Fisher Distinguished HostaHybridizer Merit Award from the American Hosta 
Society, and the Don Shadow Award of Excellence from the Southern Nursery 
Association.
