                          Arlington, VA 22211

Tour led by Rod Simmons, Natural Resource Manager/Plant Ecologist

Arlington National Cemetery (owned and managed by DOD) is home to an
extremely diverse and significant collection of trees and landscapes.
More than 8,600 trees representing 300 varieties and species.
Adjoining Arlington Woods (owned and managed by NPS) is an old-age
forest remnant that is a Virginia Native Plant Society Registered
                                 Site.

Join LDG for a tour of the trees of Arlington National Cemetery and
Arlington Woods by Rod Simmons.  The Memorial Arboretum is dedicated
to designing conservation-oriented landscape.  This is a rare
opportunity to visit Arlington Woods; an old-age forest that once
covered the uplands and hillside of this acreage inherited by George
Washington Parke Custis.  See PDF for more information below.  Our
tour will focus on the current drought conditions; its impact and our
                    response as Landscape Designers.

   * Meet at the Welcome Center Information Desk to get screened.
Parking is available for a fee; Metro is also available.
   * Wear sturdy hiking shoes and consider bringing a bottle of water
