Subject: Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Volunteer Opportunity
     with School Programs

Hello,

My name is Carolyn Giroux, and I am an Educator at the Smithsonian National
Museum of Natural History.  I’m contacting because you have helped us
previously in our recruitment efforts for volunteers.  I would like to
request your help once more.  We are currently looking for volunteers to
work with our School Programs, and we think this opportunity may be of
interest to your community.  I’ve attached a flyer with information, but to
summarize some of the main points:

·         Our trainings prepare volunteers to assist with inquiry-based,
natural science focused school programs for grades K-12.  The training dates
are September 25, 26, 27 and 28

·         The volunteer requirement is for a minimum of 2 shifts, 8 hours,
per month for 1 year

·         Shifts are from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM, Monday through Friday

·         You must pass a background investigation prior to attending
trainings

·         New volunteers must also attend an NMNH museum orientation,
offered from 10am-1:30pm on either September 16th, September 20th, or
October 14th

Individuals who are interested should contact nmnhvolunteer at si.edu for more
details.  Additionally, please feel free to distribute the attached flyer to
listservs or bulletin boards as you see fit.  If you have any questions,
don’t hesitate to contact me!

Best,

Carolyn L. Giroux
