Subject: Spanish moss in Maryland?

Is anybody familiar with the Pocomoke Swamp, the Pocomoke River or
Nassawango Creek in southern Maryland?  I’ve found several second-hand
reports of Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides, Bromeliaceae) occurring in
bald cypress swamps in that area but no documentation.  I’ve also had two
people (not botanists) tell me they’ve personally seen it along the Pocomoke
River but I’m still a bit skeptical.  As far as I know, the northernmost
(documented) populations of this species are on southern Cape Charles
(Virginia).

John B.
