[BSW] October 30 Remembrance for Larry Morse at TNC

Please join Larry Morse’s family, friends, and co-workers at the memorial 
for Larry Morse.  The Remembrance celebrating the life of Larry Morse is 
Tuesday, October 30 at the Native Plant Garden behind The Nature 
Conservancy, in Arlington, VA. It will take place from 4:30-6:30 pm. Below 
is the announcement for the remembrance.  If you are interested, RSVP by 
October 23 to: danielle_sundstrom at natureserve.org.  

Because Larry was such a big part of the BSW and so many knew him 
throughout his career, we are hoping to have a few members speak about 
Larry at the memorial.  If you are interested in speaking, please contact

Larry Morse Memorial Event -Schedule
4:30 – people gather, food, drink, etc.
4:45 - welcome and remarks by Mary Klein, President of NatureServe
4:50 – remarks by Diana, Larry’s sister
5:00 – someone who knew Larry really well in his early career
5:15 – someone who knew Larry really well outside of his career
5:30 – Erin to announce the Visiting Botanist Fund at TNC
5:40 – open forum for people to share stories and memories
6:30 – wrap up
Also, TNC is collecting stories (Larry Stories Project) as follows:

Part 1: request people to submit short stories about Larry to share with the
photos TNC collected for the remembrance and/or to find people who might
like to speak briefly. Please include contact information.  

Part II: request for contact info for people interested in contributing to a
short article about Larry for use in newsletters.

for a Time of Remembrance celebrating the life of Dr. Larry E. Morse, former
      chief botanist at NatureServe and a legend in plant conservation.

Larry enjoyed a nearly 30-year career in plant conservation that included
serving as the botanist for the MD Natural Heritage Program, leading to
roles as the Chief Botanist at The Nature Conservancy and continuing with
NatureServe until his retirement in 2006. He was a walking encyclopedia, not
only of information about plant identification and conservation, but also of
the cultural uses, historical relevance, and ecological contributions of

The garden is situated behind the TNC building between Stuart Street and
